Ok, Pooh, this one's for you.

Here we are skipping stones after spending T-giving with your folks...

Claude Found a Jellyfish

Bet you thought it was too late in the year for a trip to the beach.

Oh, but you'd be wrong....

New Commute

New York has been an embarrassment of riches lately. Last week alone included Field Trips to see Radiohead (how to choose just one song to represent Radiohead? What about this one, or this one, but especially this one?) , Sharon Jones, and Bob Dylan (just up the street in our very own backyard, Prospect Park).

Oh, and a musical about our favorite Nigerian musician, Fela Anikulapo Kuti (go, go, hurry! It's closing on September 21).

But what I've really been enjoying is my new commute into Manhattan. Of course, I've been bringing the camera along.

Last Summer Days

Fun time this weekend.

Have a great time in Costa Rica guys, bring us back some pickies.

Thanks for the great shot, Rachel!

Off to the Beach

A fitting end to the week.

So to speak.

With only two official weekends left to the summer (how does it go so quickly?), you can imagine where we're headed!

Central Park

Field Trip is pretty Brooklyn-centric, but this weekend we had a picnic in Manhattan's Central Park to celebrate Auntie J's birthday.

Nice lazy summer days for lying in the grass...

New York From the Water

This post marks my 100th photo on Field Trip. How appropriate that it's a shot taken in my hometown, incorporating some of my favorite things -- being on the water, riding a ferry (I'm sure you've noticed a theme)...

New York From the Water

Sometimes it's easy to forget that we're surrounded by water living in New York, but this summer the waterfront has been easier to access than ever. We've been enjoying the fantastic new Fulton Ferry Park, exploring Governor's Island, riding the Water Taxi. This Saturday we rode a ferry through the harbor. Here's one view with the Statue of Liberty in the distance.

Lost 'Roids

Vancouver, July 2008.

I really don't know how this one got left out, it was one of my favorites. Purely oversight. We saw these rock formations all around Vancouver. This was the largest one.

Lost 'Roids

The last Bourgeois polaroid made me realize I have quite a few other polaroids I have wanted to post, but for one reason or another, never got a chance to put up. So this week, I'm sharing the ones that have fallen through the cracks, the 'lost roids'.

Here is a sunrise shot of the ferry bay in Costa Rica, March 2008.

Spider

Spider, Louise Bourgeois, Paris, March, 2008. It was about 30 feet tall.

The Louise Bourgeois Retrospective is on at the Guggenheim museum now through September 8. I'm going to check it out. I'll let you know what I find.

In the Northwest

Have you ever taken this little boat to Granville Island? Canada Day fell during our visit, so it was a pretty festive time to be in Vancouver.

In the Northwest

Just returned from traveling around Seattle and Vancouver -- what a beautiful part of the world! It was my first time seeing Vancouver, so we explored Stanley Park, English Bay (shown here), Granville Island, and the neighborhood of Mt. Pleasant, which locals were calling 'the Brooklyn of Vancouver'... and of course, I always love Seattle.

Happy birthday, Gran and Oups!

Good times

Another weekend, another trip to the beach...here Mark and Andrea are enjoying the sunset.

Andrea, you were the hero of the weekend! Thanks for everything. If I had a plaque, I would give it to you.

One aspect I love about Polaroid is the imperfection of the medium. Sometimes the film is damaged in its packaging, as you see here with the dots on the left side, but that only adds to the uniqueness of the photograph.

Summer's here

Summer has arrived in New York, and you know what that means! The weather was perfect for Memorial Day weekend, ideal for a trip out to the beach...

BBG

Sorry for the 'hiatus'! Been consumed with work for a bit. I guess life can't all be one long Costa Rican vacation (although I'm trying to figure out how it can be).

This week's Field Trip is to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, one of the best things about Brooklyn. Here are the beautifully ornate entrance gates.

**The BBG is free on Tuesdays!!**

Long-awaited signs of spring are finally arriving here in Brooklyn! The Magnolia trees in Prospect Park are in full swing.

Brooklyn Flea

The Brooklyn Flea (www.brownstoner.com/brooklynflea) started this weekend! There were a lot of wonderful local designers, vintage furniture stands, yum food vendors. I'm excited to see how it develops as the summer goes on, but for now it's a welcome destination on our weekend stroll. Here are some of the vendors who were there;

A lovely handmade soap/florist shop, located in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Well worth a trip! www.saipua.com. The soaps make great presents but I usually end up keeping at least a few for myself...

This lady had every thing bicycle related, great t-shirts, cards -- www.bicyclepaintings.com

Neighborhood perennial fave, Lena Corwin -- www.lenacorwin.blogspot.com

Beautiful prints from Lotta Jansdotter -- http://jansdotter.com/

I'll post polaroids from our trips to the Flea as the summer goes on. Did you have anything you really enjoyed seeing there?

"Mongrel Mick" was a great surf teacher. Next time we'll listen a little closer to his instructions -- a surfboard through the lip isn't exactly the souvenir you hope to bring home....
