The Highline is one of my favorite destinations in NYC. It boasts some of the best gardening in the city, featuring indigenous, sustainable, and hardy plants. Patterned after Paris' Promenade Plantee, the original elevated garden stroll, Phase 2 opened this summer, extending to 30th St. Now with a roller rink, food trucks, and beer garden awaiting you at the end.

Sometimes it's easy to forget that we're surrounded by water living in New York, but this summer the waterfront has been easier to access than ever. We've been enjoying the fantastic new Fulton Ferry Park, exploring Governor's Island, riding the Water Taxi. This Saturday we rode a ferry through the harbor. Just returned from traveling around Seattle and Vancouver -- what a beautiful part of the world! It was my first time seeing Vancouver, so we explored Stanley Park, English Bay (shown here), Granville Island, and the neighborhood of Mt. Living in NYC, I often find interesting artwork just by walking down the street. The city is like an open air museum! Some consider street art graffiti, but I find it beautiful. Here is some work I found while roaming around Red Hook, Brooklyn.

Another sculptor I really admire is Alexander Calder (American, 1898-1976). This week is a winter walk to the Audubon Center in Prospect Park and it's environs.
